The reviewed randomized, controlled trials, specifically of phase III, were focused on direct comparisons of two or three specific immune checkpoint inhibitors, such as programmed death 1 (PD-1), programmed death ligand 1, or cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4), or diverse doses of a single inhibitor, with conventional therapy in a head-to-head context. From 106 randomized trials, encompassing 164,782 individuals, we identified 17 treatment modalities.
