“Purpose: The progress which has been made in interventional cardiology contributes to the gradual improvement of the results of CHD (coronary heart disease) therapy. The aim of the study was the assessment of early and long-term prognosis in all the patients with CHD treated invasively in one large-volume PCI center in 2005.

Material and Methods: 1390 consecutive patients with CHD treated with PCI in 2005 were included in the analysis. Patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) accounted for 50% of cases, patients with stable angina (SA) amounted to 25%, and patients with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndromes (NSTE-ACS) constituted 25%. METHODS: The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN)/United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) database was used to identify adults (18 years) listed for OHT from 2005 to 2009. The cohort was divided into those with or without CHD.

RESULTS:

Of 9,722 adults included, 314 (3%) had CHD. Adults with CHD were younger (35 +/- 13 vs 52 +/- 12 years, p < 0.01) and more often had undergone prior cardiac surgery (85% vs. 34%, p < 0.01). Patients with CHD were less likely, to have a defibrillator (44% vs 75%,p <0.01) or ventricular assist device (5% vs 14%, p <0.01) and were more likely selleck compound to be listed at the lowest urgency status than patients without CHD (64% vs 44%, p <0.01). Fewer CHD patients achieved OHT (53% vs 65%, p < 0.001). “The effect of atmospheric air plasma treatment of jute fabrics on the mechanical properties of jute fabric reinforced polyester composites was investigated. The jute fabrics were subjected to different plasma powers (60, 90, and 120 W) for the exposure times of 1, 3, and 6 min. The effects of plasma powers and exposure times on interlaminar shear strength, tensile strength, and flexural strength of polyester based composites were evaluated. The greatest ILSS increase was about 171% at plasma power of 120 W and exposure time of 6 min. It is inferred that atmospheric air plasma treatment improves the interfacial adhesion between the jute fiber and polyester.
