In pursuit of AI applications relevant to COVID-19 clinical response, a comprehensive literature review of academic and non-academic sources yielded 66 entries categorized by diagnostic, prognostic, and triage functions. A substantial number of personnel were deployed in the initial stages of the pandemic, with the majority being utilized within the United States, other high-income nations, or China. Dedicated applications, capable of managing the care of hundreds of thousands of patients, stood in contrast to other applications, the scope of whose use remained unknown or restricted. Although the use of 39 applications was supported by some studies, few of these studies provided independent assessments, and we found no clinical trials investigating their effect on patient health. To identify high-risk patients for relapse within 18 months of diagnosis (ER18), Zaccaria and colleagues recently introduced a new risk score, the Score for Early Relapse in Multiple Myeloma (S-ERMM). Using data sourced from the CoMMpass study, we validated the S-ERMM externally.
